Writing Small Moment Stories
Students have been using their Writing Sparklers and Heart Maps to write “Small Moment” stories. A “Small Moment” is an interesting story that happened to the writer at one place at one time. These stories only focus on a small part of a big event. Writers “zoom” in by planning their stories with a creative beginning, middle, and end. Strategies to make their writing more interesting include using thoughts, actions, feelings, dialogue, and their 5 senses. Students will soon celebrate their small moment stories and begin a unit on sentence writing. You can help your child by using this graphic organizer to discuss events you have done together.
